About the Show
The Russo family appears to be your typical New York City family; however, they are nothing of the sort. Alex, Justin, and Max are not only everyday kids but also wizards-in-training; competing with each other for the title number one wizard.
Why the competition? Only the best of the three gets to keep their magical abilities after the age of eighteen.
Their father Jerry, who lost his magic to his brother Kelbo, heads up Wizard Class when he's not busy running the Waverly Place Sub Shop with Theresa, the mother of the Russo clan.
Sibling rivalry transcends the ordinary as the Russo kids figure out they can use magic for anything from household chores to getting even with each other.
It's always laughs as we watch Alex, Justin and Max try to clean up their messes before their parents bust them. Afterall, for the Russo's, being a teenager can be tricky!
Alex
Alex may be the middle child, but she is definitely the queen of Waverly Place. She pretty much follows the "cast magic first, ask question later" motto, which concerns her parents. One thing is for sure; her unsupervised magic definitely makes for an entertaining day in the Russo household!
Stylish and savvy, Alex embraces her individuality and would rather live life her own way than follow the herd!
Harper
Harper is Alex's BFF and tries her best to help Alex out of trouble whenever she can! She has a quirky style and loves making her own clothes, even if she's the only one who thinks that they're fabulous.
As she says, it's better to be an individual than to be exactly like everyone else!
Jerry
Jerry is not only Dad but is also the instructor of Wizard Class and owner of the Waverly Place Sub Shop.
When he's not cleaning up after the kids' magical mishaps, he can generally be found showing them how to conduct a spell (correctly) or dodging Alex's unscrupulous requests!
However, all the kids know that the way to their Dad’s heart is through chocolate pudding, after all, it is his all time favourite food!
Justin
Justin, unlike his sister, loves to live by the rules. The eldest of the three Russo kids, he's an over-achiever and with that comes responsibility - Justin is always picking up after Alex and Max's magical messes.
He is also smart and funny, a combination that puts him in favour with the jocks that need tutoring at school.
Max
Max is the youngest Russo who likes to take things to the max! His mischievous nature and curious ways often result in harmless pranks or embarrassing moments for his older siblings.
Max is brand new to his wizard training and isn't quite used to the chaos that his powers can cause!
Theresa
Alex, Justin and Max’s Mum. Along with her husband Jerry, Theresa runs the Waverly Place Sub Shop and is always trying to stay one step ahead of her kids' magical mishaps. She's also ready to offer up motherly advise for any non-magical teenage problems they are regularly faced with!
